Our mission is to seek and serve Christ in all persons; our vision is to be an Episcopal parish that reflects the love of Jesus in worship, fellowship, outreach, and the daily lives of its parishioners. St. Mark's Episcopal Church is an intimate community with a passion to reach people outside our doors.
What to Expect at St. Mark'sWorship is at the center of everything we do at St. Mark's. Our common life is regulated by the rhythms of the church year with weekly celebrations of Holy Eucharist. We are a liturgical church (one that has a prescribed order of worship) based on the Book of Common Prayer. Each week, you will hear Scripture readings, a short sermon, prayers, and may participate in the Eucharist (sometimes called Communion or the Lord's Supper).
Our services normally last one hour, and if you're not familiar with Episcopal worship, don't worry! The order of worship is printed in a bulletin, so you can participate as you feel comfortable. The dress style varies; you will see congregants in suits and ties and others wearing jeans. The most important thing to know is that all are welcome at God's table: the Holy Eucharist is open to everyone, whether or not you are a member of the Episcopal Church. |
worship Services
- Saturday at 5:30 PM: The Saturday service is generally smaller and more informal, using contemporary liturgy. A wine and cheese reception is held in the parlor after the service.
- Sunday at 10:00 AM: This is the principal service, also using the contemporary liturgy (Rite II). During most of the year our Sunday service also features a full choir. Childcare is offered in the nursery during this service. Coffee hour is held in Langley Hall immediately following the service.
Getting Involved at St. Mark's
After the 10 AM service on Sundays, we have coffee hour in the parish hall to get to know each other better. During summer we transition into lemonade on the lawn. With the return of fall we incorporate a book study or discussion series into this social time, including age appropriate Christian Education for younger St. Markers.
