St. Mark's welcomed the Rev. Candyce Loescher as its rector in July 2016. She was called to St. Mark's from St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Madisonville, KY.
She grew up in Memphis, TN and was graduated with a BFA in Sculpture at the Memphis Academy of Arts. After graduation she worked in the arts and in sales in Memphis, Pennsylvania and Georgia. She and her husband, Warren Loescher, were married in 1987 while working in Memphis. Always active in the church--serving in youth groups, choirs, Daughters of the King, teaching Sunday school and serving at the altar--she she felt called to become a student at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA graduating with a M.DIV in 2007. She was called to St. Mary's after graduation where she served as rector for 9 years. While in the Diocese of Kentucky she has served on the Trustees and Council as co-chair of Mission Funding and as Dean of the Four Rivers Deanery. She has also served as chaplain at All Saint's cam for Middle and High School youth. |
