Many opportunities are available to give back to the community through outreach programs. St. Mark's volunteers reach out through many groups such as those listed below. For more information on taking part in these ministries, please contact our Parish Administrator, Marti Taber (parish.office@stmlky.org).

United Crescent Hill Ministries
  • St. Mark’s regularly collects food for the Dare to Care Food Bank located at UCHM.
  • Several parishioners deliver and prepare food regularly for Meals on Wheels or help to serve meals at the Kids’ Café.
  • St. Mark’s provides Christmas gifts and Kroger cards for families in the UCHM Angel Tree program.
  • Our Rector is a board member

Advent Outreach
  • A mitten and cap tree provides warm hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves to needy children from Chenoweth Elementary School.
  • An angel tree organized provides Christmas gifts for 25 needy children at Lincoln Elementary School, in addition to the 3 children from UCHM.

Youth Group Outreach
  • Youth group members help to purchase and wrap our Christmas “angel tree” gifts for Lincoln Elementary and UCHM children.

St. George’s

Refugee Ministry
Our refugee ministry is being currently re-assessed to fit with the current needs of the community.

Ronald McDonald House
The Evening Women’s Group goes 3 times each year to bring meals to families at the Ronald McDonald House, a home for families with children who must travel to Louisville for medical treatment.

Seamen’s Ministry
Parishioners knit scarves for barge workers on the river and provide boxes of used books, as well as candy at Easter as part of the Seamen's ministry.

Episcopal Church Women
The ECW engages in a number of outreach activities and provides small grants to local charities. In 2008, for example, they collected small bars of soap, shampoo and other cosmetics for residents at Wayside, the House of Ruth, or the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women; they provided books for women at the Kentucky Correctional Institute; and several members worked in the Norton Hospital Gift Shop.

Millennium Development Goals
The Episcopal Church adopted the eight goals of the MDG (to reduce global poverty) as their own.  For more information see: www.un.org/millenniumgoals

New outreach missions and ministries are forming regularly.  Watch the “St. Marker” and the “Parish Announcements” for the latest news.
