Liturgy of the Word

Welcome

The Apostle Paul reminds us that "there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Gal. 3:28).  Our mission, 'to seek and serve Christ in all persons', embodies Christ's radical embrace of all persons. Whether you are exploring faith, a Christian from another tradition, or a 'cradle Episcopalian', we believe you will find something worthwhile at St. Mark's.

Announcements

  • The Outreach Committee is collecting urgently needed items for UCHM and St. John's Center.  UCHM food pantry needs restocking as they anticipate an increased need for emergency food this summer due to rising costs and students being out of school. Items requested include: peanut butter, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meat, canned stew/soup/chili, shelf stable milk, low sugar cereals, dry pasta, spaghetti sauce, pancake/baking mixes (which only need added water). St. John's Center for Homeless Men asks for help with the following items: white crew socks, men's underwear (medium and large), baseball hats. Items may be placed in the information center.
  • Saturday Evening services have resumed at 5:30pm. Many volunteer positions are needed for this service. If you'd like to participate in one of the ministries, contact the church office.
  • Craft Group will meet Wednesday  at 10:00 a.m. in Langley Hall. Bring a project you would like to work on. It’s a fun time to gather and share ideas.

Book Study & Sermon Series: The Path

Picture

We are currently working on a sermon and adult education series based on The Path: A Journey Through the Bible (ed. Melody Wilson Shobe  and David Creech).

Each week we will be substituting the Old Testament and Epistle readings prescribed by the Revised Common Lectionary with the chapter readings from the lesson plan of The Path. The goal is for those who are able to read the week's chapter in advance of the Sunday service, then we will discuss the readings and sermon during  the after service Adult Education Hour in Langley Hall.

The book is available in the church office for $22.00 or may be ordered online from the publishers, Forward Movement, or via Amazon and similar retailers.

Currently we will be teaching lessons based on Pathways of Faith, which corresponds with the Adult Ed study, for Children's Church.  After mass, kids should go meet the teacher in the Dreher Room.  Snack and craft will be provided.
